This is... an absolute masterpiece; it's simply that brilliant. It's the perfect concoction of action, character development, family bonding, sorrow, and suspense. We're introduced to John Freeman, brother of the iconic and silent Gordon Freeman himself. Right off the bat, we find out that John is just the average everyman, employed as an office drone. When he receives an email from Gordon asking him to assist in fending off an alien threat, he doesn't hesitate to leave his work and find his troubled brother. From this, we learn more of John's character: he's family oriented and will even put his own job at risk to secure his brother's safety
